Paint Party Friday!

These 150th anniversary of Canada (2017) tulips have been a bit less than successful. They haven't remained true to their colour. They inspired my PPF sketch, however. You see? Some have some yellow.

Here we go. Oil paint markers, coloured pencils, fine sharpies all contributed to the project.
This is the home that I put in the background.

Next time, I might try sketch the tower in Perth.

Hubby brought home some salads. A caesar for me, and a "Mskoka Salad" for himself. I'd never heard of it.

Down in the forest, the fungus doesn't mind the cool temperatures.

It's my daughter's 40th birthday this August. I managed to snag tickets to Come From Away. It's been an award-winning Broadway show all about post-9/11 stranded passengers, all 7,000, who were put up in Newfoundland.

It wasn't easy. Some seats are $200 PER SEAT. Happily she won't be turning 40 again. It'll be a great mother/daughter night for us. We have the girls that week, I'll drive them in, and we'll go out to the theatre!
There aren't many seats left for late August!
Ticket sales opened up Monday.
We're in the 2nd balcony, nosebleeds!

Hubby said that's OK, he's just happy I'm not taking her to a Raptors playoff game!!!

  1. Those tulips have been disappointing. They didn't do well for me. However, I have seen some fairly good blooms here and there.

  5. The tulips are pretty! Too bad they didn't step up! I had some 150th anniversary zinnias last summer and they were really pretty, red and white :) I love your piece, it's so cheerful with the colours! :)

Hybrids of all sorts will quite often 'revert' - I still think they look lovely and your rendition of them is delightful!

As I was looking to see about tickets for a cricket match later this year and was nearly falling off my seat at the idea of $150, I can quite understand your swallowing at the costs - but as you say. An event like this is a one-off and to be relished. As for the Raptors' prices. YEECHHH.... YAM xx (safely back in the Hutch)

  8. My anniversary tulips are all different colors this year! The first growing season a lot of them didn't even bloom. The next year a few did, but they were wishy washy. This year some of the blossoms are tiny, deep purple, DOUBLES. Some are red, some yellow, about a dozen pure white. I guess we will always look forward to seeing what pops up the next year!

  12. I read the story about the wonderful people of Gander, their generous hospitality, one pregnant lady was billeted in a home so close to the hospital, and everyone was looked after with extra care . What a birthday present, one year our younger daughter took me to Wellington, to see " Sawn Lake" on ice with the Russian Troupe. The most amazing performances, and I am sure you will both so enjoy the show. Happy Birthday.

  13. Very pretty!

In town the Canada 150s have been the last to bloom. I took some shots of them in the last few days.

  19. Amazing fungus
Never heard of a muskoka salad, was it good? I tend to shy away from store salads as they usually contain many things I can't eat, so it is much easier to put together my own.

  21. Sweet whimsical painting of the tulips in a garden. I would love to stop by there for tea and cakes. I like the shape and the colours of the fungus. They made me think of flat bread :) A Very Happy Birthday to your daughter!! Have a wonderful time!
