Frog ponds and the birdbath

I had a crisis. The birdbath, well-repaired thanks to some advice, nearly froze up. JB noticed it, and I realized the heater had failed. I drained it; we drove to Almonte to buy another. It's installed, and we shall hope for the best. There goes the family fortune. Again!

This is the current status of the frog pond. The water levels continue to rise. I have lots of archive photos! I miss the green.

It is often the scene of many Gramma Stories at bedtime.

As I searched for photos, these popped up. These are photos from the frogpond in Bala, where we used to live (2006-10), and cottage (1960+).

  2. We have a heated bird bath that we used for one winter or part of it, but the birds never came. The deck is bigger now so we could get it farther away from the house, so I suppose we could try again.

  3. The green is always missed, but we learn to accept the grey too. Life includes all colors and shapes and we adjust to what it offers.
Your photos are very relevant as always!

  5. I don't understand why the frog pond is rising but I'll take your word for it.

  6. Our family fortunes also have a way of disappearing due to various unexpected developments )) . I'm glad you were able to fix the birdbath -- it is not good to have frozen bathwater.... you are good to the birds and they need you. Winter looks lovely around your place -- and your header shot is gorgeous.
