Fernleigh

This little house is beautiful! It's the one with the dinosaur bones!

Plevna to Perth

Plevna

Plevna was originally called Buckshot in the 1860s. In 1877 the Post Office demanded that they change the name of the town. At the time, there was an internationally known situation called the Siege of Plevna, in Bulgaria. This was part of the Turkish/Russian war. I wonder, since there was an ultimatum by the Post Office, that they thought it their own siege.

We stopped here, me for the LCBO, hubby tried to get a cookie and coffee. The store was closed. This garage is interesting. Lots of windows.

Ompah

The community name derives from Algonquian for "long step" or "long portage."

Home again.

  1. I miss that restaurant. My father had relatives in Ompah. When he would come from Peterborough, we would all congregate there and have a boisterous visit. Dad is gone, the cousins have all moved away, and the restaurant is closed. Time stops for no man as they say.
