Out the kitchen window... March 20th. The turkeys are in mating mode. The two males, with a harem of about a dozen females, strut around protecting them.
The story on trailcam #2 is fun! For newbies, the males have a 'beard' which you can see on the turkey above. The females do not.
This is a raccoon with kits. Hooper was chasing one of them last night at 9 p.m., he is incorrigible.
Hello Jen, Awesome collection of photos. I love the turkeys and the cute deer.

ReplyDeleteOne cannot help but smile looking at these! YAM xx
Is that JB with the bucket? When we had a herd of deer around the yard, before dogs, Mike would shake the bucket of feed and they would come running. They would stand around waiting for him to throw the seed down but they wouldn't approach him.
ReplyDeleteIt IS JB, Karen! He adores his deer. It reminds him of being on the farm, as a kid, with the horses.
ReplyDeleteWonderful turkeys and deer! Love those fluffed out feathers of the males! Funny raccoon shot!

ReplyDeleteHi Jenn-
ReplyDeleteYou have some great animals visiting you.
I am glad you feed them and are friendly to them.
Do you use a night motion camera to take the photos of the raccoons?
Just curious...
Thank you for your visit and comment.
Have a Happy WE!
Peace :)

Those turkeys are HUGE! We have some in our community but I don't think they are that big. Love seeing your photos! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteInteresting that you have Wild Turkeys. Their displays must be similar to our Black grouse who indulge in "lekking", dancing around in circles, jumping up and down and making lots of noise. Not just at weekends though.
ReplyDeleteWonderful animals in the snow.
ReplyDeleteThe turkeys are really beautiful.
Best regards, Irma
Beautiful turkeys! You have lots of visitors there!
ReplyDeleteSome wonderful photographs of the turkeys and deer.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
So very beautiful. But so very cold!!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh. It looks like the turkey has a hat on :) The image with the deer :)
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a crowd of turkey and deer ... I have to wonder what was going on when the deer stuck out its tongue!!!
