Hubby said it would be the last summer-like day and he wanted to go to Barry's Bay and Golden Lake. We stopped a couple of times in Golden Lake on our way from Muskoka <=> Ottawa. The hills, especially Calabogie, are lovely, living as we do on flat, shallow wetlands in Lanark County. We passed the ski hills.
We saw a buck, and several spots where Momma turkey had her chicks playing in the ditch!
Lots of old barns.

I missed telling him the turn for CR #34, and we had to take the next right, this led us to Kennelly Mountain Rd. and Mount St. Patrick. It was beautiful!

Calabogie... an old bridge and the boat launch.

i like getting lost/taking a wrong turn, it provided some lovely sights!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely barns and a gorgeous lake. Also, thank you so much for your inspiring comment on my blog - I do agree with you that diversity enriches us all.
ReplyDeleteWe must take a fall trip or two around that general area.

ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful. Everywhere South of the border here has been getting a late summer up into the 30s. Here? 15'C tops plus all the usual wet and windy... hey ho. YAM xx
It's a marvelous area to explore. Barry's Bay especially.
ReplyDeleteGreat road trip. You've got lots of photos to go with your story.
ReplyDeleteWe travelled through that country too this weekend, though east/west, on our way to and from Ottawa.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have wild turkeys around here. When I taught school the fifth grade teacher had a turkey in her "barnyard" of animals behind her classroom. The city kids got to experience farm animals up close and that was a good thing. Many of the inner-city kids never got out of their small urban community. - Margy
ReplyDeleteHello, I love road trips! The turkeys are a cool sighting. Pretty views of the water. Great photos. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteAhh, you were in my country!
ReplyDeleteWhen my youngest daughter was a young teen, we would take "trips to Kruken". I would drive, she would navigate, "turn left at the next road", go north, go west. No maps, just on a whim. I saw a lot of the Valley those summers.
Lakes and hills are such a lovely sight! Landscape like that soothes the soul and brings peace to mind. Your hubby knows well what he wants.
ReplyDeleteJennifer hello!
ReplyDeleteO local é belo, com fotos interessantes, que ampliei para ver melhor.
Muito bom!
Wow! I don't think I've ever seen wild turkeys before in any of our trips.
