Muskoka Trip cemetery

In all my photo-stories of our Toronto/Muskoka trip I forgot to tell you about my folks! The plot in the cemetery looks good.

Joan Jilks 1925 - 2006
 Ray Jilks 1925 - 2007

A stone has been placed on the plot beside them (Pratt). There are lots of names, and birth dates, but no death dates. I presume they are being prepared, planning ahead.

It's a lovely cemetery. Lots of interesting stones and placements.

Evelyn Pearl Shand 1938 - 2010
Alexander James Shand 1931 - 2015
Norman Elder 1939- 2003
(His is quite the life story on Wiki!)

Off we went on our tour.

  3. Beautiful shots. I guess it's become more common in the last thirty or so years to carve a name into a stone in advance.

  5. The cemetery gives us all kinds of reasons to pause and think about the lives of other. In a small local cemetery like hours most people are known.

  6. Beautiful two headstones!
I go to the cemetery once a year, before the jewish High Holidays. This is the time to ask Forgiveness and pray for a Good New Year. I come back feeling unwell as the place is very sunny and I usually do some cleaning work of the stones and around them.

  7. |We used to go to the cemeteries and have a little communion with the ancestors. Not living in the area anymore (Hastings and Prince Edward and Peterborough), it doesn't happen very often.
