Daisy and I took a walk to check out the frog pond. It was pretty wet on top, but there is a thick layer of ice. It's pretty solid and I took a walk across it.
The snow and slush tells a story. Our coyote seems to have been checking out the Muskrat lodge. I checked it out the other day and then the snow melted to slush.
Daisy was quite keen on sniffing out the tracks of the canine visitor.
There were deer tracks, as well. It's a busy spot!

I usually check out my Wood duck nesting box just for fun. I installed it early last spring and Momma had a successful fledging of ducklings.
Tell tale tails, and footprints galore, lovely tracks across the slush and snow. Pity about the mice, my almost most unlikeable animals, after rats!!! Guess they have to have a home as well, Jean

ReplyDeleteI highly anticipated it, Red! They were buried and I just flicked the shavings a bit and their bums were sticking out. They weren't going to look, though!

Of course snakes are hibernating!

Looks like Daisy is enjoying her walk outside. Oh my, I would have jumped after opening the nest box, I do not like mice?
ReplyDeleteYeah- I do believe I would have just closed the door back too...rats! Daisy must be a good mouser if they are hiding in the duck box.
