It is a fake flower, Jean! It used to light up at night, using solar power, but as is the way - rusted out. Yes, we anticipate heavy snow this year. My Shaman friend says he won't know until he kills his first deer, little fat on it's upper body means a lot of snow - it knows there will be protective snow cover, which is how they keep warm. My friend with the Scottish Highland cattle says her cows have more fur between their eyes in anticipation of a bad winter! It is beautiful in winter. I love the change.

We were frosty on Friday morning too. Hopefully the lake will remain clear for at least another several weeks...
