Not a starling? Can you help me ID it? We DO NOT have greenery like this right now, this photo is from last year, but this bird is giving me a hard time.

I recognized the Red-winged blackbird right away. There's a marshy area we go to where they are abundant but the females and juveniles give me a harder time to id. I enjoyed your photos and I'm looking forward to hearing their trill again. They have such a distinctive call.
ooohhhh Jennifer, you should get a bird book, it is so fun to I.d. the birds!! I make notes on the pages, dates, habits, how often I see them and what they like to eat!!
Those red wings visit my feeders but I have never gotten a good close up!! Your images are beautiful!!
Hari OM I am very keen on birds but of course not at all familiar with those from your part of the world...That would certainly look like a starling to this eye - I defer to the more experienced! The male is certainly a looker... YAM xx

It looks like it could be a red-winged black bird female. How big was it? A bit smaller than robin size?
