You can see the size difference! |
It may have been cold for the past week, but there is lots of action outside. I'm having trouble getting a decent photo of the cardinal. Oh, well. There are many pros out there who can do so. The cardinal only visits about once a year. This is the time!
Bambi, however, is an easier target. We have two females and a fawn that have been visiting.
Then there is the tricky cardinal. I put the 400mm lens on, stood outside in subzero temps, on the back deck, with the camera on a tripod. Even so...
I managed a video of a woodpecker and a chickadee on the feeder (below).
The light, fluffy snow is wonderful for snowshoeing. It's quite deep, and excellent exercise! I grabbed a photo of the berries in the bog. Such a bright red.
I dragged the camera with the zoom lens and tripod, hoping to grab a shot. Nothing captured my eye, other than the berries. I heard a pileated woodpecker, but it was shy.

ReplyDeleteUntil our first RV trip east from Oregon I had never seen a cardinal... there aren't any in the Pacific Northwest. I only saw them on Christmas cards! And that's what your pictures remind me of.
ReplyDeleteYou are taking great advantage of your wintery weather -- lovely pictures.
So nice to have these creatures hang around. We've been enjoying our visitors also. Lovely pics.
ReplyDeleteI love the cute deer and the cardinals are beautiful. Lovely series and post. Have a great evening!
ReplyDeleteGood for your for getting out when it's nasty. As you know , some of the best shots happen when it's inclement.
