It is well-written, and I love the sci-fi aspects of it, the paranormal activities. It makes for a great read. My volunteer life is pretty end-of-life, serious health issues, and I like a murder-mystery, or Jodi Picoult's life and death issues. This book is incredible. It puts life into perspective for me.
I am only on chapter ten of eighteen, and have been busy for a volunteer! I have had a couple of needy Home Support clients, joined a new Board of Directors (Friends of Murphy's Point Park - worked our table at Festival of the Maples), and had a 2nd birthday party for my 2nd granddaughter. But I cannot put it down!
This is a great book. It's not for the faint of heart. It is for women who want to hear their voice and are as comfortable chopping wood, as wearing make-up. As the world changes, I like to read about women who make their own decisions, have opinions, and possess inner courage and strength. We older women worked long and hard to fight against antifeminist media and men. We want all of us to have choices; our sons and daughters, grandsons and granddaughters.
I love the main character, Emma Strong; knows her own mind, down-to-earth, smart, talented, powerful, not unlike the author! I highly recommend it!

ReplyDeleteI'll pass on the romances, but very happy that many readers like them. There are also some excellent writers in the genre as you point out.
