Everyone is hungry with snow on the ground.
I presume it is a coyote. I saw a shadow of a predator off in the gully once. Never again.

I did capture their voices one sleepless night at 2 a.m., but that is all.
They visited our shed, looking for the 'mice friends' for which the cats search!

I would be worried about the coyotes getting close, if I had cats that went outside. Sometimes, I am glad I live in the suburbs...
Yikes!
I've heard them way off in the distance and am fearful of them coming around our place. Once they get "lucky" with a tasty meal, they'll be back for more.
I have seen a coyote when I was visiting in Phoenix - crossed the road in front of the car. Glad we don't have to worry about them here in the 'burbs...but we don't have the peace and quiet you have either. So, I think it is a trade-off. Lovely snow photo of the shed.
When we lived in Los Angeles, there was a park across the street. The coyotes would come across in packs and walk boldly through our neighbourhood. We had to make sure our cats didn't go outdoors, especially at night. But it was also a common sight for the coyotes to walk through during the day. Such bold animals. - Margy
I live in a city and I've seen several coyotes, the latest about two weeks ago. They are very adaptive.
Wow that is so interesting. I hope you get to see the Coyote eventually but with your cats eating all of the mice I wouldn't count on it! Fun post. W.C.C.
