A skiff of ice on open water;
sun rises over the trees;
another day springs with warmth and light.
Crocus raise their faces to the sun
Children cry with delight
Birds shriek in anticipation
Seeking a tasty morsel
Open water their sanctuary
Populating treetops
Craftily creating creatures
Nests form overnight
