We sure have had rain. I still have to put the water barrel away, this gets water from the eavestrough to refill the goldfish pond.
This gutter was overflowing. Just a handful of leaves blocking it. I climbed the ladder and chucked them overboard. That was satisfying, that swirling the drain noise as the gutter drained!
Oh, Barry. I'm glad we have 16 acres... Thankfully trees are a renewable resource! This is the before:
And the after... I counted 13 saplings gone. This is all new growth. The previous owners cut the grass here. I've let it fill in. Until Barry!
You can see the trailcams.

Barry is hustling, winter approaches. His survival depends upon him being safe in his lodge, waking periodically to eat from his food cache, and konking out again.
Here is his 2026 lodge from across the wetland inlet.
I noticed that trail, under the tree, and crossed my fingers until I processed the footage. He's been dragging the trees under this tree he felled in August. Or was it July?!

Barry has been very busy! I wish it would rain here!
ReplyDeleteBarry is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe sounds he is making, how funny is that!? What a strong little guy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a strong little guy he is, to haul a whole tree to his pond!
ReplyDeleteBarry is surely a strong fellow, all that chewing and sawing then to drag!!! I hope his food cache is adequate for his winter sleepover.
ReplyDeleteBarry is a busy beaver. Take care, have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh boy.. Barry has been a busy beaver.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have some trees left. Barry should be down to stubby little teeth by now from chewing on the big trunk. He's lost his mind! Some suburban creeks outside K.C get blocked, and the Park Service comes to relocate the damaging cute little beavers. One took down some beautiful birch trees and made his dam before being relocated. Yes, they're good for the general environment. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteHe is certainly renovating your place.
ReplyDeleteI must look up the difference of a lodge in a pond and a tunnel on a stream.
ReplyDeleteOh my word! Barry’s a busy little beaver. That video is amazing! Loved the photos too.
ReplyDeleteI hope Jean-Luc and buddies faired well in that storm.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! Barry has been very busy!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
