The snow on the back deck piles up. I shovel it off, and it gathers under the deck. Lovely little piles. Good thing we don't need any more firewood from the shed. I could not navigate it.
I don't know which one this is, but it tried to climb the bird feeder pole over and over again! (Spoiler alert: he didn't make it!)
My morning entertainment!
Since 75 has ventured outside his nest box (it took awhile), I have not seen him entering the box. He's been on the tree several times, but he move through the tree canopy and doesn't leave his scent at the bottom of his tree. I filmed this through the dirty window. He's reluctant to have me watch him.
UPDATE: 9 black squirrels out back. Two in the front. It's mating season. Thursday, Feb. 19.
Blood on the ground Feb. 20.

We heard some birdsong on our walk yesterday. We haven’t noticed that for quite awhile.
ReplyDeleteIs that a black squirrel? The snow amount is so overwhelming, but yet so pretty. Glad you have plenty of firewood up near the house..
ReplyDeleteFun squirrel pictures! You may have the start of a little colony of black squirrels!
ReplyDeleteNature is alive and well at your place!
ReplyDelete#75 is so fun to watch, yay for friends - and maybe more black squirrels. Your snow shoveling is a challenge, I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed funny about name tags. Ours are out as well. JG has the squirrel baffle of all time on our big feeder. At last they are baffled, after beating us on many other attempts.

Black squirrels! Something I've never seen here. We have two red squirrels cleaning up under the birdfeeders these days. -Kate

ReplyDeleteI would be so entertained by the squirrels if we had some around here.
ReplyDeleteThat's a well documented squirrel. Everyday observations like this are important.
