Fall unfurls

Chores! One takes the garbage out in the rain. The other brings in the empty cans. Division of labour!

My bench swing is wearing its winter coat.

I had a helper supervisor, OK, truthfully, a buddy. There for moral support.

Cinnamon and I went to check out the wetland. This is the water that has accumulated this month.

The hornet's nest fell onto the ground. The precision and architecture is amazing. The hornets have gone. Cinnamon gave it a sniff.
There seems to be three layers.

Here are the sundrops in June:

Last of the colour in the garden. I think this is the dogwood (left), and narrow-leafed sundrops (centre).

An old photo! This used to be along highway #7. A beaver dam with a Canadian flag and a satellite dish!

The robins have been around having regular baths. I've only seen this pair on a regular basis.

But it's the Blue Jays that have our attention! Go, Jays, Go!

  1. I am surprised that the robins are still around.

  2. The blue jays are gorgeous. I like that you got curious about the next and tore into it - I'd do the same!

  3. We have jays and chickadees but not a robin in sight. And our stream is almost completely dry. The bottom beaver pond has water, but the upper is pretty drained. Bring on the rain, even if it does make taking the trash out a chore.

  5. Yes definitely GO JAYS GO, the real feathered ones and the baseball variety! Some nice photos, all showing that autumn is here and we just have to prepare for the next seasonal level. Aren't you lucky to have a cuddly cat, I had cats all my life but none at the moment.

  6. I've seen that beaver dam with the flag. Hoping to get out this weekend to do the mulching and put away the outdoor furniture.

  7. The beaver surely has the right attitude, Go Canada.!!! Yes, getting colder for you, we still have cool mornings, but lawn and weeds likewise are growing.

  12. Aha! They won the first game of the World Series. I was surprised when I saw the Reagan Anti-Tariff ad that Ontario put out. That was rather hilarious!

  13. I always feel sad when the neighbors wrap their fountain and bridge for the winter. Apart from not being pretty, it's just a reminder -- winter is close.
