Bird watching

I guess seeing red squirrel is just a bonus! These are from the front window. With the recent cold snap, it is just lovely watching from inside. Of course, we were nowhere near as cold as the prairies. Right, Red?! You were at - 30 C., while we were only -10 c.!

American tree sparrow:

White breasted nuthatch:

Tappy cardinal:

Junco:

Mourning doves:

Downy woodpecker:

They sure like the bird bath, although they aren't bathing in -10 C. temperatures!

I moved the Wingscapes camera, you can see the lights on it.

It captures cats, as well as birds.

It is tricky, as you have to set the focus prior to setting it out. It's hit and miss the critters.

This cardinal is a nut! Can you see him in the tree outside the window?

He was tapping on the bathroom window, seeing his reflection and an enemy. My blue heron statues watches, but so do the cats.

  7. Of the ones you posted we don't see the tree sparrow. And our squirrels are gray squirrels. It's such fun to see your feeders!

  8. That snowstorm looks pretty tough! Rain and snow never are a good mix to mess with.

I use a trail camera in the woods to see what goes on when I am not there.

I love all of the bird photos! I took a few the other day also, but haven't looked at them.

  9. Hey, we had one overnight low of minus 41. You have a very damp cold which is very uncomfortable.

  11. What a great variety of bird visitors you get. Those red cardinals are such a beautiful bird. We only get them resting in our evergreen on their way to somewhere else. I've read a recent report that squirrel pox is rampant in the grey squirrel population in an area of Kitchener but thankfully red squirrels (according to this read) are not prone to it.

  14. That is a very fluffy squirrel. It's amazing that birds are able to survive those arctic freezes.

  15. It's been fun catching up with your posts. Fun looking at your birds and lovely squirrel pics too. Cardinals are a hoot, one keeps pecking at its reflection on the side mirror of my sister-in-law's car. Doesn't like the handsome competition, lol! Cute video of the ever so cute Cinnamon.
