A bit of snow!

Just when I wondered what to write about. Yesterday we both went to the dentist. A good cleaning and we were good to go. The skies were ominous. Our appointments were at 3 p.m. in Carleton Place. It was a nice drive.

I love this property, even on garbage day. They have totally renovated it, and added a pool.

You can see the line of clouds moving across the land.

Oh: the spools of wire are intriguing.
They are replacing all of these wooden poles. Hard work!

That was a bit of a shock, but not a surprise! Freezing rain warnings abounded Wednesday afternoon. This is what was on the way:

Happily, this is what we got: 5 cm of snow. With a high of 5 C., I figured I'd do the back deck. When I checked the radar, I realized it was going to be warm and melt. We are up to 0 C. already, and the snow is sort of rain, but the storm is just about done! WHEW! I am going to enjoy my coffee for now. I've a respite client this afternoon. Let's get this day underway.

Amazingly, given how mild a season it has been thus far, we had a very wintry shower over the Hutch yesterday... it has to come, can't be avoided! YAM xx

  2. I'm a sucker for first snows. At this point I'm a sucker for rain. Too dry here, and wildfires are all over western NC. Maybe tomorrow some rain will help. I do hope we get some snow this winter...just so I can put on my boots and tromp out to favorite sites.

  3. I'm glad it is going to get milder later bc I should flip the bird bath over rather than let it freeze and thaw.

  4. We just got little ice pellets and then rain. No snow yet.

  5. We got about five, maybe six, inches. No freezing rain and the school buses are running.

  6. ...I like snow, but I can wait a bit longer for it. Stay warm and well.

  9. We so rarely see snow in my city that it always seems magical to me. I am a wimp about dentists. I am glad that all you needed was cleaning.

  11. We are still enjoying very mild weather — snow may wait quite a bit. Or not. I can wait indefinitely.

The pics took me to an entirely different world.

  13. Hello Jenn :=)
It once snowed here where I live and the garden had a covering of snow. This was when my son and daughter were very young, and there was just enough snow on the patio to make a snowman. the children loved it and so did my dogs. The next morning there was just a fine dusting of snow on the ground but to our delight the snowman was still in tact. It has never snowed since.
Those snow flakes look pretty big, and not an animal in sight.
    Keep warm
    All the best
    Sonjia.

You and AC both had dental appointments. This reminds me that I probably have one coming up too.

  16. Snow is nice when you get to enjoy it only for a week or so.
It's forever summer in my corner of the world!

  20. That's quite a bit of snow-- but that early snow melts pretty quickly. Beats the frozen rain -- that weather graphic looked pretty scary!

  21. We only rarely get any snow this early. In fact, some years we don't get any at all. I find yours exciting!

  22. We've had snow, but the ground needs more time before it'll stick.
