I've removed the deer fences around the garden, since our little doe, Clover, no longer hangs about all year. I suspect she succumbed to something. She loved my front garden flowers! I tried chicken wire, and that worked fairly well, with flags across the top.
The deer fence from Lee Valley Tools was amazing. You can see through it, the black mesh I stapled to 1 x 1" posts.
It was time to take it down, though.
Farewell to summer.

Bears
They haven't been a problem this year. People have learned to put feeders away in summer. The birds don't need it, and it is selfish to want to see the birds, which risks all of them. I sure learned my lesson in May, 2017, in our early days here!

Hello Jenn,
ReplyDeleteI love your deer and bears, the cubs are cute. Great video captures.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thanks for leaving me a comment.
You seem so clever in the ways you adapt to the wildlife that is all around you. Deer, bears, birds...
ReplyDeletebest, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
The bear cub footage is thrilling. Thanks for sharing these nature moments!
ReplyDeleteYou've adapted well to your environment. 😊
ReplyDeleteGood to see your videos of deer and bears! I'm always interested in how you save your pretty flowers from being salad for the deer. Yes that black cloth seems quite good as a deterrent.
ReplyDeleteAwesome videos! Well, except the spider one. I could have done without that one!
ReplyDeleteIt is good tha the bears are not a nuisance for you.
ReplyDeleteOh look at those bear photos!
ReplyDeleteWell done on saving the garden (and the birds) and thank you for the critters.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine having to deal with deer. much less bear! Yikes! Thanks for sharing your photos. It's a whole 'nother world from city living in the U.S. South lol
ReplyDeleteYou have to be aware of the critters in your area.
ReplyDeleteYour post gave me a belly laugh with the bear cub eating birdseed :)
