We ease into winter...

This is our set up, so far! We've been having fun decorating. JB is obsessed with his train set, and I quite like it. So do the cats! It is almost balanced, and the cardboard is unbent. It stood up in the basement and had a nice bend.

First job was batteries. The taller houses have 3 AA's in them.  These little houses, below, each have three wee disk batteries. Of course we didn't have any extras. JB went off to look for them and changed our minds. Each one is $7. That's more than he paid for the wee houses!

The bears have a sign.

The cats sit on clown pants, still. I don't know why she likes to sit on top of Clown Pants. He likes to sit in the head in, butt out. She is a control freak.

I didn't venture out of the house yesterday. It rained all day, off and on. JB went off on his own to his Bone Mineral Density Scan #7, we hunkered down back inside.

I did wander down to the trailcams a couple of days ago. You can see where the raccoons dig for grubs.

Funnily enough, Butch was on the trailcam hunting for said grubs! They stomp on the ground to disturb them, and dig them up!

It's been a great spot for the trailcam, a path between the forest and meadow, with the deer scrape. Even the doe pauses for an itch.

In the meantime, out front, count the eyeballs!

  2. I especially liked the train scene in the dark. Agree that $7 is outlandish price for a disk battery. Did you check for other prices on the internet? Amazon has a 10 pack of #2032 for 5.99 bucks. What a crazy cat with the clown pants. The trail cam shots were very nice. Have to check for raccoon diggings in the leaf litter.

  3. Trains and men who were boys back in the day, go together. I wish we had one, and I have bought two Christmas trains in my lifetime, but one broke and the other was too big for our little spaces.

  4. The constant search for batteries drives me crazy.

    I love all your critters.

  5. My love of trains, especially forming a little village, comes from my Dad. But I also got a bit kick out of how my cats interacted with them...only one would pat at it as it went by, often knocking it off the track of course.

  6. Looks like snow falling in the last video, I thought at 10C it would be too warm, but that temp might be right at the trailcam where it is warmer.Glad you have the snow tyres on, down here, somewhere there was a fire below power lines, ALL our smallish town had no power from after 7.30 until 10 p.m. Hugh managed to get the generator running, by torchlight, hooked up the gas so I could have a shower. I realised how reliant we are on power for everything !!! So sometimes a mobile phone is worth its weight in gold.

  8. $7 for a battery? I would pass. Hope the bone density scan went well and doesn't turn up any nasty surprises.

I can appreciate the train set... and it is finally turning colder here and some places have had snow. Conversely, we have had sunshine. Go figure. YAM xx

  14. I like your train scene. We've never had anything like that, and I wonder now why we never adopted that tradition.
