I took a deermouse, a small one, away from Cinnamon. Putting it back in the garden, I thought it safe.
I found it, again, and it startled me! It was on top of the plant stand. There is no food there. It scampered down.

I thought that once the snow left us, Oregano, our feral friend, wouldn't be here. There are potential meals all over the place. Lo, and behold! He was eating a part of a bagel I'd thrown out. oregano 1
We're in for some rain, a strange long weather system going east. You can tell from the built up ant hill!
I cleaned and drained our kiddie pool yesterday. Today's high is 16 C. Not particularly conducive to swimming!
The big news in Canadian politics is that PM Trudeau has named an Innu to be our new Governor General (GG). (The previous one, a former astronaut) resigned for being a bully to her staff!) The GG is the Queen's representative in Canada. Debating the need for that would be moot, as it is a ceremonial role. She sounds like an amazing person, speaking English and Inuktitut.
Congratulations to Mary Simon, the first indigenous General Governor! Even though it's a ceremonial role, her appointment is of great importance to Canada.
ReplyDelete...everything comes in due time.

ReplyDeleteNice to see that Oregano is still with us.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Governor General is largely a ceremonial role. Personally, I would be happy to dispense with the monarchy, but how that would ever happen given the process needed to achieve it, is hard to imagine. In the meantime, ceremonial or not most of the time, the GG plays an essential role in the process of government. And Mary Simon seems like a great choice.
ReplyDeleteYou are kind to save the mouse. I try to do the same (not always easy). It looks lovely there. Which province are you? I'm glad you have a better GC now!
ReplyDeleteWe are in Ontario, Jeanie!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see all the critters.
ReplyDeleteThe mouse does look very cute :)
All the best Jan
