Heavy rains in the region = flooding

Central and southern Ontario, and Quebec, are having a huge problem with flooding. It is bad everywhere. People are putting in sandbags: Renfrew County, Muskoka, Toronto Island, Wolfe Island (Kingston), Belleville, NOTL, Ottawa River homes (Cumberland, Constance Bay), Gatineau (west Quebec).

Peak flood waters close portions of Perth. Be careful out there! #ONFlood#Flood2017

Two deaths out east, and two in Quebec.

The weather system has been here for days, dumping water everywhere on top of already saturated lands. The rivers are dangerous. Yesterday we had 38.9 mm (1.5") of rain. It's so hard to believe. It just began raining, again!

Despite this, after my volunteering, I went for a drive. They were lined up for the first night of the season at the drive-in!

It's not going to get better for a time, either!

Buckle up. Here we go, #Ottawa. Rain will continue tonight until roughly Monday. Did I mention snow is likely Sunday overnight into Monday? pic.twitter.com/alYAMtkcQb

  1. Non stop rain here as well (Grey, Bruce area) but when I look at those photos you posted, I guess it could be a whole lot worse. I am craving a sunny day. -Jenn

  2. I had a look at the Rideau River at Billings Bridge yesterday evening. The water's very high- the underpass on the north side is closed, and there are a couple of low lying islands to the west that are submerged.

  3. The situation looks bad, but the pictures displayed are beautiful. Ironic, isn't it?

we had a lot of that and we will get some more - but for this week we are actually getting settled, moderately warm and bright weather. Lapping it up! YAM xx

  5. That rushing water is so close to the homes, hope there isn't serious damage and everyone is safe.

  7. This can be so scary. I hope the weather calms down for you soon. It's been pretty peaceful in Hawaii for now...
