Friday, March 11th: a quest

Yes, a quest. I was interested is figuring out where we spotted some otters,  [River, Otter and Canada Geese photos] in April, 2013. I try to include photos of the GPS, to help me remember where we were. I knew it was the same day we'd seen this memorial, on highway 29 in Flinton. [Skootamata River - bridge and roadside memorial near Tweed]

Hubby was sure the otters were on Myers Cave Rd [sic– the lack of apostrophe irks me!]. I was certain about the location of the memorial, so I drove us there, first. Then back-tracked to Tweed, where we had lunch. After a nice lunch in Kellys (fitting for March!) we changed drivers and perused the map, for the umpteenth time. The map drove me nuts, as it is an old one, and while we don't have any new roads in the region, it was falling apart at the seams. Do you know what I mean? Then, what we were looking for, or thought we were looking for, was on the edge of the map. Now we know where it is. There were no otters, as the bay was frozen. We'll retry in a couple of weeks.
We were successful in finding birds. As we were on our way to Flinton, JB was so proud of himself as he spotted some birds. Several Canada Geese and a few Golden Eyes.

The memorial and rickety stone bridge, with signs of a beaver!

Another roadside memorial

The ice on the rocks are intriguing!

Myers Cave Rd. –quite frozen.

A dog or a miniature horse?!

  3. It looks like a good day to have been out and about. No doubt that bus was stopping at the restaurant just up the road from the river.

  4. I love finding ice falls. They've been pretty rare around us the last three winters. Have to go pretty high to find one. - Margy

  6. I like your rickety bridge! It's a sad situation when we still use such bridges.
