This one sits in the feeder and chucks the seed everywhere. This helps the ground feeders (junco, mourning dove, etc), but I don't need the seed scattererd everywhere!
Woodpeckers are cut off from Jennifer Jilks on Vimeo.
The little dweebs have been chucking unwanted bird seed overboard: lovely song birds seed, cracked corn, looking for their favourite sunflower seeds. They are cut off! Only songbird seed there now!
Good luck with that! I have only hummingbird feeders out right now. There is a woodpecker sipping from one daily. I showed it the bird book trying to convince it that it was not a hummingbird all to no avail.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I have seen the doves swinging their heads back and forth in the seed. Great video..
ReplyDeleteI love the woodpeckers.
ReplyDeleteMostly I use a suet feeder. (Especially since on clever raccoon finally figured out how to get to my seed feeder, and destroyed it.)

What a wonderful film :))
ReplyDeleteNow that's a weird wood pecker behavior. I rarely have a wood pecker or flicker at my feeders.
ReplyDeleteIs he eating, playing, or just having a seed bath? Lovely when his head pops up every so often, he needs a huge "drip tray". Cheers, Jean.
ReplyDeleteBirds will be birds!
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious! She isn't even finding something better to eat in there... she's just scattering. Silly woodpecker!
ReplyDeletePoor birds ;>)...they'll have to find another restaurant. Don't blame you.
ReplyDeleteoohhhh lots of my birds do that as well, and I don't know why!! I am not serving up mixed seed, so why are they "picking" through it.....it's all the same!!
ReplyDeleteBut I am happy to have so many birds at the feeders, they are so fun to watch!!
I typed a comment and got an error message???
ReplyDeleteMy birds do the same thing, I don't know why because I don't "serve" mixed seed!! They are fun to watch!!

that is hilarious! congrats on your POTW!
ReplyDeleteMessy little devil ~ but very funny to watch ;)
ReplyDeleteFunny video, worth a POTW!!
ReplyDeletePretty funny, but taking care of the others . They eat mostly suet in my yard.
ReplyDeleteToo funny. I'll bet if you hang suet they would go to that and leave the seeds alone.
ReplyDeleteToo funny. I had to do the same thing. The sparrows were flinging the seed every which way and then it drew some rats...ugh....nasty.
ReplyDeleteHad to shut off the supply for them too.
