Wood duck from Jennifer Jilks on Vimeo.
Our Wood duck is still on the nest! I donned all my gear to fend off the bugs and visit her. Black flies, mosquitoes as well as deer flies, this month.
Isn't she a darling? And so are you, in your beekeeper's outfit. Good idea with so many bugs around. Must make sure Lindy isn't fretting, as we are having thunder this afternoon. E you soon. Luv, K
Hari OM ...after I got over the vertigo I was delighted to see the little darling eyeing up that strange invader; possibly wondering if it might be edible!!! Now, if you could set up a permanent fly-cam... hehehehe. YAM xx
She hasn't yet seen me, William! She snapped at the Snake Scope, and sees it as predator/prey. Which is good, since there are many about! I did some research, and they do come off the nest to feed. I wasn't sure. A month is a long time to sit! I'm not down at the pond much, since the bugs are so bad!
Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I am so glad to have you here! Fans, blog buddies, and positive, constructive comments, make my day. 'Anonymous' creeps me out!
It's remarkable that so many clutches are successful with all the risks around.

ReplyDeleteI wonder what she thinks of you!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're protected. Those black flies are painful and I HATE mosquitoes.
