Poor little red-wing blackbird! It's bald!

    Oh my! That is so very odd. I've NEVER seen a bald red-wing blackbird before. I wonder if it's sick or is it old?

    i've not seen anything like that before... i'm guessing your right... it probably has a health issue. but, at least, not an eating issue. hope all is well. have a great night~

    He's not unhealthy.. just moulting. We've seen cardinals (3 in all) blue jays (2) and a grackle - all of whom were bald.. for a while. Some of those were regular visitors to the feeders and we were able to see that their feathers did indeed grow back. Apparently, nobody knows for sure why some lose all their head feathers at once but it's not overly uncommon. Pretty cool that you captured this guy on video.

    i think it may be moulting. my blue jays look that way at some point during the season and others have told me they are moulting!!

    my red wings never come in to the feeders by the house!
