I have to agree with the juvenile camp; the North American goldfinch is singularly different in plumage from that of UK (ours has red face and your birds here look more like our greenfinches), the male being almost canary-like. The feeding bird is certainly a female of that species and this would have to be a 'hanger-on-er' - possible a second hatching. Likewise on the feeder shot, the juvenile has not recognised it's not mum.<br /><br />As a very-keen birder, the finches are a species I am very keen on due to the huge variety and their presence nearly everywhere in the world.
