Daytrip March 26th – part 2

Monday, March 26th

It was going to be a lovely day.  Photo series 1: Athens, Front of Yonge Township.

In this post:
Mallorytown, Rockport.
I chose some of these photos, mostly drive-bys, as I might want to sketch some.

(Ganonoque, is post 3.)

Here we were at Mallorytown.

Some Easter decor.

We drove under Highway 401, not along it!

Rockport

We took a drive around Rockport. We've been here in summer. The place was closed as we are here before the season begins. The black line, on the lower corner of the map, is the border between Canada and the USA.
It's a lovely little spot, bursting at the seams in summer with tourists, including bus tours, which stop. Both restaurants were closed, however!
I'm trying to imagine what happened to this house.

There was ice fishing nearby. It's quite a popular winter sport.

Here is the same region in summer! In the meantime, we anxiously await SPRING!

Thanks for sharing! It still looks so cold but it beats the crowds. I heard water levels are low.

Ice fishing, they are either very brave, very hardy, or plain crazy. Who would venture out there, freezing cold, just to catch a fish!!! Love the driving scenes.

Terrific shots!

Madness to get out onto that ice at this time of year, though.

I've never really explored that area. I can't imagine sitting out on that ice fishing!

A great day trip. I'm guessing the open barn with the bench will be one of your sketches.

You did well having to take road shots.
