Goldfish Pond

It's nearly time to shut it down for the season. In the meantime, the frogs are moving in, since the wetlands, including the frog pond, are getting dryer. The frog pond is covered in fallen leaves. We are down one goldfish, I will have 8 to bring in for the season. I've put it off with our mild temperatures this month.

Today is a bit chilly. Perhaps, this is the day! Perhaps not, since I'll have to fill the goldfish tank with well water, which is a bit chilly anyway. It takes a couple of days to warm up in the house.

How many frogs can you spot?!

At least my "pond" is something I don't have to put to bed for winter. Our lake level is finally rising if only a few inches. I see baby trout hanging around and so does the Great Blue Heron who has returned after a summer away. - Margy

We are so lucky with a milder winter season, our goldfish stay out all year round. I read, somewhere, never to crack the ice if there are any left in the water, the sound waves will kill them, OR something along those lines. I see it is getting a lot colder where you are, are the winter woollies ready? Fleece jackets, and warm hats?

That'll be quite a job to get done.

It appears they're getting ready to lower the canal levels soon.

It looks like a wonderful place to spend some time just watching nature!

Good to see you've got lots of frogs. We have very few.

Lovely pond Jenn, makes me appreciate our mild weather, as I read about all the preps needed for winter over your way. Your frogs and fish make me smile. All the best!

One of my boys is super frog crazy, and he would love this so much! He has a pet aquatic frog in his room, that he got for his birthday. But finding frogs in the outdoors is his favorite hobby. This is a cute little pond.

It must be so much fun to have a fish pond of your own. I remember my neighbor when I was growing up had a pond with incredible carp in it. Made me wish I had one too...
