Poor Lil Orphan Annie: killed on the road

We loved her so much. Sadly, she must have just turned two. Deer tend to live between 3 - 5 years, they say in my deer book.

She'd follow me owl hunting, and through the bush. She really liked hubby, who talked to her a lot. She loved my hosta, too. I didn't mind. She lost her momma in winter. In the wee hours of Saturday morning, with a long debris field, someone is missing part of a front bumper, a licence plate, and car bumper parts. She was a lovely little thing.
Slow down, people, watch the ditches. Somebody out there loves your victim.

Happily, we have a young buck visiting every morning around dawn. Life goes on.

He's been around every morning for the past few days.
What looks like Tigger and his brother were on the trail cam in the wee hours just at dawn.

Sorry about the doe. Assume with so much evidence the one who hit her is known.

That's so sad. We have a deer here in town. My good friend watches her from their balcony. She crosses the dangerous main street to eat from lawns and gardens then zips back into a large lot of alder trees. She might have a fawn in there. Hopefully both make it through without any danger. - Margy

Poor deer! I had no idea they lived for such a short time, I imagined much longer. Lovely photos.

i'm so sorry for this loss. sounds like she was fond of you and your family. maybe the buck will be as affectionate one day. but, i'm guessing he'll be more independent. great video capture. have a great night~

Os veados são animais belos, elegantes e muito bem representados aqui, nas suas fotos.
