It's the 2016 Brier in Ottawa!

The 2016 Brier is in nearby Ottawa. There has been lots of excitement.
The Canadian men’s curling championship began in 1927 in Toronto and has been contested each year since, with the exception of the war years (1943, 1944 and 1945). After being held in Toronto from 1927-1939, the Brier went ‘national’ in 1940, staged in Winnipeg. It has been held in every province at least once and in 31 cities from coast-to-coast.
Hubby loves his curling, as does Daisy! The other cats, not so much. We had friends pop in on their way to Ottawa. They were going to a hockey game last night, then the gold medal curling game tonight.
He is one of their fans, but there are many others, a bit crazier, like the Sociables.
He begins with his matrix. This year, they offered one on the website. There is nothing like a great, big ledger, though! (Both my husbands have been accountants!)

The Sociables peeps dress up! Over the years, the painting under the ice has included advertising.

Kevin Coe is normally a very serious, unemotional player. In his run up, to compete for the top prizes, he did a couple of happy dances! This was highly unusual!

This is the Dominion Tankard cup. I visited the games in Smiths Falls, but it was just days after hubby's operation and couldn't stay.  I donated my curling broom as an auction item for Ontario's 2014 Dominion Tankard. Daisy won me a  signed broom.

I love that shot of Daisy watching closely!

I've been passing by Lansdowne frequently, so the last few days have always seen lots of people either coming or going.

I've occasionally seen curling when they have the Olympics and can't quite understand it. Then again, I hardly understand football either.

Okay, I get it that people can like curling but me? Not so much! I have curled and I like it.
