Farewell February 2016!

Our totals:

Feb. 29th Ice rain!

Our sidewalk and driveway are very slippery, but the day warmed nicely and it improved. There is more snow on the way.

Feb. 28th more snow on the way!

The Great Lakes aren't very frozen, I expect the winds are picking up a lot of moisture!

Feb. 25th–What a horrible ice storm

Ice Storm '16 It took me the morning to free tree branches. Next I have to cut them up in order to move them. It changed from rain to snow this afternoon.

Feb. 24

P.M. I timed it just right: We watched as the beautiful snowflakes changed into rain, then frozen pellets whacking one's face.
So far, 5 cm snow in the a.m., and something like 30mm rainfall. The gutters overflow!

Big warnings for freezing rain a.m.

This system is moving its way up the eastern seaboard. The issue is the pink, on the map, showing freezing rain.

Feb. 21

A little snow on its way. Or rain! We are on the cusp- but just snow!

Feb. 20 - plus 10 C.!

We had a very warm day yesterday, The snow cover has gone down quite a bit. It was raining and Daisy wasn't happy. She refused a walk. It's a sloppy mess out there, and very difficult walking in the forest. From ground cover of 44cm => 22cm today.
power outage

Feb. 19

Uh oh! This doesn't look good!

Feb. 16

has had *massive* hourly accumulation today: Total 34 cm 5cm -- 9-10am 7cm -- 10-11am 5cm -- 11am-12pm 6cm -- 12-1pm
5cm -- 1-2pm

No sooner did hubby get the walk done, and the driveway, then the walk needed to be done again! It's quite a mix across the NE. I love that "S" shape. We're hoping for plain, old snow. That we can move easily every few hours.
Poor Buster!
Well, we're up to 30cm/12"! We've each done the 100m driveway once, sidewalk thrice. Just have to keep on top of it! I moved the garbage twice. It was covered in snow and they didn't see it. THEN, the snowplough moved it to the other side of the driveway.

Feb. 15

Here it comes! By 3:30 some snow has begun to fall. Just when hubby got the driveway centre bare!

Feb. 14 Power Outages in Ontario

Feb. 12/13 very, very cold (-25 overnight!)

Power is out in Central Ontario.  The forecast looks bizarre!

Feb. 10 A little bit of snow?

It's fallen faster than they predicted! I did the walk before fetching the paper. We'll have to do it again!

Feb. 9th

The poor Maritimes are getting blasted. We have had a few cm, again. Very cold, -7 C.

<

Feb. 7th just a couple of cm

Feb. 6

A skiff of snow. Not much remains. My friend lives along this snowline. It happens all the time, something to do with the prevailing winds??
We had a skiff of snow, and it all melted, except on the spots where there is still icy snow.
Sadly, a mild winter. We need more snow.

FEBRUARY 6, 2016

All snowmobile trails closed in Muskoka Lakes

Most of the South and Central Ontario Trails are closed (red). Check conditions out here:

Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs

There are varying conditions in Quebec, as well.

Feb. 3 Busses cancelled; snow, rain, sleet and hail!

It is now raining, 6:30 a.m.! It wasn't until 9:30 a.m. that I remembered my rain gauge, running outside in housecoat to put it out, again.

We've been colder!

Satellite is amazing!

Feb. 2 You could see the clouds moving across the continent!

Feb. 1st

Holy hannah, the snow is melting in 6 C. temperatures. First tick of the year.
N.S. has had a massive storm, with wet snow. There are many without power out there.
There is a warning of a big storm coming, too.

February's weather has been unkind! Hope March brings warmer weather.

Good gosh, Jenn! I'm wishing you a very early spring. I've got all my fingers and toes crossed. You have suffered enough.

Buster looks quite stoic!

I've been looking at some shots I took on February 15th in preparation for future posts- most of them had blue sky, but the last shots of the day really tell the tale of what was to come.
