Our newest granddaughter!

What a sweetie! She is about 3 months old, now. And I made her smile! Not at first, but after a day she got used to us. She loves her Grampa, and was fascinated with his beard, I think.

I know, from my psychology and human development courses for my ECE degree, that they prefer regularly oriented faces, with two eyes and nose and mouth in the right places!

Brown bear, brown bear,
What do you see?

By three months, they are quite attached to their parents, and begin to know about their other regular faces in their world. Nana, the other grandmother, visits more regularly!

Jess' mother-in-law has been terrific sending me photos, but now I finally have some of my own! She is a delightful little girl, and I was able to make her smile. With newborns, especially, you need to imitate their sounds, and they will play a game with you. By this age, she is just starting to make some other sounds, and you repeat those, echoing, and you can have a conversation!

We bought her a couple of board books, becuase this is lots of fun reading and talking to babies. Yes, you should read to babies! And talk, a lot, because they need to have a receptive vocabulary before they are able to sift through it to draw upon an expressive vocabulary.
I'm sure our Cluny said ga-ga for Gamma!

New grandchildren are a great event at any time. Yes I believe we should talk to infants but I also believe that they are talking to us and we should listen. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
