Momma grooms her fawn

Hubby went down for his late afternoon nap Thursday. It had been a long day!
I didn't want to wake him up, here is your video, toots!

Bird watching at dusk, I spotted a doe with twins in the front yard. Momma decided some grooming was in order!

Wednesday, there was a doe and one fawn in the backyard.

For the past couple of mornings, a doe & fawn have visited the back yard. I threw them an apple, which momma readily ate. It's rutting season, as well as hunting season, and all hell is breaking loose for them. They see our backyard as sanctuary, as we do! The wolf chased a deer into the yard last year. I saw him huffing and puffing in the back.

So sweet. I wonder if we'll see any before hunting season is over.

To have your yard as a safe haven, a wonderful combination for them, safety, food, and a camera shoot all together. Take care, Jean.

Guess they need that last bulking up before winter. If I recall, you use a winter feeder to give them a hand. How do you keep the deer away from your garden plants? - Margy

I dislike the hunting season here, the bow hunt in the woods next to our house.. I feel sorry for the deer, I hope they stay safe.. They are so cute, great videos.

You are such a good wife, letting your sweetie sleep but saving the moments he missed during his nap. I woke Bill up a few days ago (in the morning) to see the pelicans on the lake, because I expected them to fly ... It turned out they stayed pretty much in the same place for three whole days, so I could have let him sleep. He didn't complain too much tho ;>)

Margy, they go after my plants some, but not the ones right beside the house.
I've got some chicken wire around the ones that worry me.
In summer, though, they are pretty scarce. There was lots of food this year, and we seldom saw them.
