Dear, do you think...? Oops. Never mind!

You know how you are in a store with someone, say a hubby, and you are distracted. Then you see your companion in the corner of your eye and begin talking to them.

Next, you realize you aren't talking to the person that you actually know!

This female Purple finch was begging for food, she was  distracted by Daisy on the ground, then realized she was begging from a Nuthatch, not her partner! It happens in the short video.

Some believe it might be a juvenile begging a parent for food, many juvies are fed this way. Could be. Either way, it was a fun event at the feeder!

Great birdie shots Jenn! I have to agree with the juvenile camp; the North American goldfinch is singularly different in plumage from that of UK (ours has red face and your birds here look more like our greenfinches), the male being almost canary-like. The feeding bird is certainly a female of that species and this would have to be a 'hanger-on-er' - possible a second hatching. Likewise on the feeder shot, the juvenile has not recognised it's not mum.

As a very-keen birder, the finches are a species I am very keen on due to the huge variety and their presence nearly everywhere in the world. I envy you this sight; I am having to adjust to gulls, pigeons and crows.... sigh... YAM xx

And I've had that happen- I was at the farmer's market the other day looking at some baked goods, and the woman next to me started saying, "do you think we should have that for ... oh, sorry!"

Lovely feeder, and Daisy keeping an eye on all proceedings, too funny. You have traffic noise, I was so surprised at that, as I thought you would be so far away from any roads. Hugs,Jean
