Cat walkies around the frog pond

Across Oliver's Lot, through the grasses. I could hear Buster yowling off on the grass, as he was slow to follow, and didn't like being left behind. Daisy often runs to be ahead. Then they lie down in some foliage and jump on each other's heads in surprise. Buster chased Daisy up a tree.
He used to have such fun with his brother. Thankfully, the girls have kept him kittenish. He was so sad when we took walks after Felix was killed.
The sun is very low, as it was later in the day. I love the changing light levels, as the fall Equinox has arrived. It illuminates different parts of the forest.

Eventually the old boy caught up to us girls. No sign of the muskrats, although I did read they are somewhat nocturnal, I have seen plenty in the daytime. They've built a 2nd shelter, in the right of the next photo.

Around the frog pond, they had a bit of fun.

Back up the hill, at the house, Dorah was playing with her mice friend. Buster was mildly interested, and Daisy got right in there. It got away. They are amazing the way they stand up to the cats. Dorah used to get bitten on her nose, she's smarter now.
It looks like its speaking sternly to her!

I was just thinking about Felix yesterday. Like you, I'm glad Buster has the girls to keep him playful.
I love the photos of Dorah with the mouse. I've never heard of a mouse biting a cat before. I must admit I think it's rather amusing.
I also love the way your cats go for walks with you. My cat Herman used to watch me walk "his" dog. He'd figure out which way we went, then show up mid-walk to join us. Trouble was, he insisted upon being carried on the homeward part of the journey, and he weighed about 15 pounds, all muscle and mischief.
I keep telling Dick that Lindy needs a cat of her own, but he says no.
Sigh.
Hoping all is as well as can be expected at your house,
Luv, K

This is a wonderful place to go for a walk and your cats are adorable! They must love accompanying you. Thanks for sharing these super photos.

Muskrats usually burrow into the bank to make their living quarters. The pushup or house as you call it is not a house. they use this for an air hole and also as a cash of vegetation for food.

Beautiful shots! I'm surprised the mouse was still in one piece.

You are so right Jennifer. I just love finding times and places where the light is perfect for a photo. It doesn't always work for me.

You found some lovely spots in those trees though.

We're doing well, Kay. I'm having a stress test soon, re: chest pains.
Hubby's test results will be in next month.
Red: we don't have river banks here! The pond is too shallow. I see these piles of foliage all over the wetlands.
