NaPoWriMo Day 17 – a sense poem

Prompt Day 17
Today’s prompt is to write a poem in which you very specifically describe something in terms of at least three of the five senses. I used to teach this style of poetry, back in the good, old days!

stepping out on the dewy deck
inhaling scents of springtime
twittering birds register their glee
playing chase me in the forest
Pileated woodpecker hammers for bugs
Canada geese honk with joy on the pond
I hear them beckon
Phoebe chatters in complaint
her hubby hasn't chosen a nest site
time is ticking away
Coyotes howl in the forest
looking for breakfast
all falls silent for a moment

You got 3, I counted. Well done by an expert. Great bird pics. I'm still searching for the pileated woodpecker.

Oh yeah, they and their little cousins (red-bellied) are our wakeup calls many mornings here in Florida.

Yes, I reminded kids about senses. Bring stuff in for them to touch smell , taste, hear see...

I have a pileated woodpecker around the yard someplace. I haven't seen it since last year, but I hear it screaching away. Wish he/she would show his/herself!
I saw your notation about the ticks. Are you far from Parham? We are going to be minding some dogs that come from there shortly. When we sat them last summer they arrived COVERED in ticks. Took us an age to get rid of them on the poor dogs. I put that stuff from the vet on all the animals. I will just have a fit if mine get any on them. (Miss Kitty, who is the same age as your twins, never goes outdoors but I still worry)
