Summertime and the livin's easy!

Isabelle's 4th trip to the outhouse!
See her on the far right!
I drove in to assist a respite client with his breakfast for 7:00 a.m., found him eating both his lunch and dinner, cold, happy as a clam! He is not allowed to use the stove, you see, due to particular incidents. Despite that, the young nurse thinks he should be retaught how to use it. Ah, these 'professionals' who fail to understand the nature of vascular dementia. The breaker is off, so he won't burn the house down.

A dear man, we joke and laugh about his infirmities, but he is frail and losing his sight and his hearing. Wobbly on his feet, we fear him falling. I visit him twice a day.

I whipped back home after giving him his requisite pills. I watered plants, filled up the goldfish pond, packed up lunch, put on my swim suit, ready to go. We went to the beach, just us girls. What an amazing day.
Sun hats, sunscreen and we were good to go!
There were a few people in the morning, many more in the afternoon. People out fishing in the heat, but even the boaters were hot sitting in the sun.
Lots of kids splashing, and grandparents babysitting! Families eating junk food, and just hanging out. Teens firing off footballs and frisbys by the afternoon.

Many smelly zebra mussels
We borrowed grampa's floater board

Picnic!
We had a picnic. Grampa picked us up dessert at a Westport bakery. There were big smiles on our faces!

Wonderful summer photo shares Jennifer. And yes, these that think they know best when it comes to care-giving always think their way is right....until something tragic happens.

1. Yesterday's cookies make me happy. :-)

2. Could the mystery flower be what we call "Texas roses"?

3. The picture of the Milkweed is what I needed to see today!! Two of them showed up in my garden, and because they seemed so eager I let them stay -- when they bloomed I was so amazed! Fantastic!!

You are so wonderful with all your respite care. Summer is fantastic. When winter is here, it seems it will never come. When it is here, it seems like the only season I remember. - Margy

It couldn't get any better that that...to be with grand kids at the beach on a hot day.
