TED Talks - this one on being an introvert

I like CBC's Tapestry. Interesting folks who explore spirit, spirituality, and mind and body, too!
This show, an interview with Susan Cain, explores her premise, that in a world that demands we all be extroverts, we introvert have to be different outwardly but the world depends upon us.
It sure explains why I don't fit in. I always thought it was from my childhood spending summers alone away from friends at the cottage. Perhaps it is my nature, not nurture!

Here's a woman who says it's okay to cross the street to avoid making small talk. Susan Cain is a lawyer, a writer and an introvert. In her book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking, Cain is trying to restore balance.

At least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking, reading to partying; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over brainstorming in teams. Although they are often labeled "quiet," it is to introverts that we owe many of the great contributions to society--from van Gogh’s sunflowers to the invention of the personal computer.

Only a third? I've been tested out to be an introvert and everybody else tells me they're introverts even though they don't appear to be. Well... I know I'm definitely one because I don't like to go to parties alone and need quiet time.
