Forest walkies: rabbit, fawn, sparrow, tanager

First, I went to the 100m down the driveway to the mailbox to get the paper.

Labbit 1 and 2 were doing some lawn work for me, not that the grass is actually growing in this drought.
Here is a baby I found in the grass.
Across the highway I motored, to the mailbox for the paper.
In the lot across the way, deer, and a fawn.

Mama watches me, and hustles them off.
If you look closely, you can see a 3rd deer. This family has been haunting our yard for a couple of months.

Headless Joe, camera-shy?
I'm just not quick enough!
Buster heard something...Felix sticks with me.
Off we went, me and my boys. Lately, Buster plunks down, and refuses to walk in the forest.

Felix comes with me. He howls if I get too far ahead.

We lost Buster in the grass. The meadow is pretty hot these days.

The sun is hot in the meadow, deerflies wicked,
the forest is cooler but has mosquitoes.
Chipping Sparrow
Meantime, the warblers warble, the sparrows chip.

And the Scarlet Tanager cheeps.

Love all your cute critters. Buster is a handsome kitty. And the deer are always a pretty sighting. The Scarlet Tanagers are one of my favorite birds. Great post and I enjoyed your photos. Hope you have a happy weekend.

Hey jenn like the Tanager but your warbler looks like a Chipping Sparrow from over here in the UK.
