Blog Action Day '09

I am happy to participate in today's worldwide Blog Action Day for Climate Change by posting this entry and directing you to the website of the organizers.

It was quite a success. I quote, in part:

For the past day bloggers in 155 countries across six continents have written about a single issue that impacts us all, and turned BAD09 into one of the largest social change events ever held on the web.
Your participation helped change the conversation and showed the power of the web to connect people across the world who despite their varied backgrounds have one shared desire: to make a difference. According to blogpulse, we increased the number of posts about climate change on a given day by about 500%, and CNN wrote a great article covering the excitement and diversity of today’s event across the web and around the world.

I watched your clip on Blog Action Day – I did not know about it. It says that climate change is the no 1 threat to the earth. I am confused because I was just reading a report saying that the no. 1 threat to our planet is overpopulation. Well as I see it, they are both threats. Do you know if there is a Blog Action Day for overpopulation also? Well come to think of it, that would not be as popular as many people think large families are great. Quite a few people, and that include us bloggers, only want to read what they like to hear and do not like to read a diversity of opinion. Climate change is a real problem but my husband who spent his entire career in the environment says that at current rates of population the earth won’t have enough drinkable water in the future to sustain us all.

Good point, Vagabonde, except that we in Canada do not have the issues with clean water that you do in the US, especially in the heavily populated areas.

I lived in Ottawa on well water. Here, our water is from a local lake. Whereas, California has HUGE issues with water, exacerbated by climate change and drought.

Canada is not over populated. We have land and space.
